Tyres for 19" alloys
I want to upgrade to 19" rims, but finding that a set of 4 new tyres will be as much as the alloys themselves...what tyres offer the best value vs grip, and from where?

For me it has to be Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta, not overly impressed with the composure of the 452's.
Don't get me wrong, 452's are very good for the price point but Vreds give me much more confidence as they're very progressive/predictable on the limit.

Another postive Vred thread. Definately gonna try them out next
O.P, If you can, then try not to skimp on tyres. It has been said many times but I will say it again. It is the only contact your car has with the road. Worse case scenario dont eat for a week. |

Only drawback is I think that the FK's would last longer as the Vreds use a softer compound I believe.

Definitely don't won't to skimp on tyres, but the cost will influence whether I move to 19s.
VREDESTEIN look interesting, who's the best value seller of these? How do these handle in the wet? |

Being a regular customer I usually get a good price from my local wheel specialist so can't tell you best price as I never look elsewhere now.
Quick Internet search - http://ssl.delti.com/cgi-bin/rshop.p...kie=&s_p=Tyres - F = 235/35/19 R = 265/30/19 All round came to £696.40 inc VAT and mainland delivery Amazing tyre in the wet, best I've used so far.

Have just moved to Vreds.
First week out all wet days, so very impressed with the handling on a brand new tyre. Have about 200 miles on them now and it was dry last night, excellent grip all round. I went for 225/35 on the front to keep OEM sizing but if you want the rim protection to do it's job them go for the suggested 235/35. HTH |

Yes that's the size I priced up, an error in the typing, post edited. Cheers

Based on an aftermarket F=8.5 R=9.5. That's the setup I'm running.

Ride on the 19" Vreds is like night and day compared with the Bodgestone RFTs..
Like driving a new car, not at all skittish or jumpy, no traction control tell-tale flashing. Cats eyes and manholes don't require a visit to the Chiropractor after driving over them.. ;-) |
