How do I know if I have auto-dimming side mirrors?
Considering buying the euro aspherical for my 2008 335xi coupe (but like the title states) not sure if I have auto-dimming. TIA ;-)

if your mirrors are blue, then they are NOT auto dim.
and auto dim only came with premium package, so if you have premium package you have auto dim.

When you look through RealOEM at rearview mirrors and use option decoders (e.g. S134 as an option code) all of the mirrors with Homelink that it shows for my VIN all seem to specify a "No" for the auto-dim side mirror option, as if there aren't enough connections to do Homelink and auto-dim at the same time. I don't think this is necessarily true, but this is how RealOEM makes it look. On the other hand, my local dealer was eventually able to give me a price of $1300 for a Homelink mirror but it took him a week. I'm not paying $1300 for a garage door remote, so.... The easiest way to tell is to test them. Some time in dim (but not dark) conditions, turn on the interior light right in front of the mirror or shine a flashlight into the sensor and watch for the side mirrors to darken. Another way is to pop the mirror glass out and see if there's just heater connections or heater+dimming. |

Thanks - I was referring to the two outside side mirrors not the interior rear-view mirror. I have the premium, sport and cold weather package so can I assume it has auto-dim feature? I've never really noticed or seen it functioning, is it a very subtle change in tint? and yes, I do have homelink

The interior mirror controls the exterior mirrors, hence you need to test using the interior mirror's sensor. |

This is true. His test should dim all 3 mirrors (unless you're in reverse, then none should dim).
