Anyone else having any issues with auto start stop killing your car?

I would say about 5% (maybe less) of the times I have had the car go into start/stop in my first 1,000 miles, the car has killed itself.

It is normally only in Sport+ and Comfort mode. I roll up to a stop light, stop/start kicks in, I let go of the brake, start/stop tries to start up, and the car kills itself and reads "Start/Stop functionality deactivated".

I have to restart the car by suppressing the brake, pressing the start/stop button, and putting the car back into drive.

It is in tune with myself killing the car when driving a manual.

Any ideas?

The 335i was recalled for this problem so a software fix has been released.

Doh. I will have to do that. I took delivery after the recall so I figured I would have the update done by the VDC but apparently not...

The only pain in the ass is my dealership is about 60 miles away each way

Was it? Hmm yeah you would've thought that is standard practice at the VDC! Oh well, an excuse for a nice drive!

is your car Auto or Manual? Also is your build date before April?

Then the recall is for you.

Manual you have a lot more control over the A.S.S its as if it was designed to work with the manual then they slapped it on the Auto.

I believe that ZF would vehemently disagree with you on that point.

knock on wood but i havent had any issues with mine. march build date and was at vdc on 5/4 and its an auto. but my car also sat at the VDC for 2 weeks which my dealer told me it was because there was damage to one of the side mirrors so they were waiting to receive one from germany before they could release. when i picked up from dealer my car already had like 28 miles on it. so im guessing the VDC took the car out for a ride around town and then some.
