Official Intercooler "Which FMIC To Buy" "What is the Best Intercooler" Thread/Chat

Let's keep it civil.
I'm sure all of us can agree we are overwhelmed with intercooler threads.

Perhaps a one stop shop for replies and information is what is needed to clean up the forums.

I have no dog in the fight so as long as you buy one from me, jk jk

I know we all like the intercoolers we personally have on our cars and I do believe there is no best but certain intercoolers do work better then others and some have their advantages and disadvantages. Price, core design (Fin pack design, charge rows, frontal surface area, size etc), ease of install, couplers, trimming required, where its made, should all be recognized.

Going along with that we are all friends here and on the same team. I truly believe its a popularity contest for intercoolers but at any rate I hope you guys can learn and not bicker.

Never posted my testing over here. Probably the biggest extremes for ICs
Helix: superior IAT surpression
AMS: least pressure drop

1st pic is IAT during similar conditions
2nd pic is comparison of logs for WGDC
3rd is WGDC over same rpm window

NOTE: all temps in F even though is says C... Shiv fix this in the next sw release

Love my ETS 5.0". Packaged extremely well, all the fins were in perfect condition, the welds were top notch, and everything fit like stock. No cutting required and the elbows/couplers lined right up. I just did over a dozen back to back dyno runs while at COBB SoCal, and one thing we noticed was that the runs were always nearly identical. Hopefully I get the logs soon and I can update my post here with actual data.

I have the Evolution Racewerks FMIC and have noted IAT at least 10-15 degrees lower than stock. Fitment and finish is top notch.

Evolution Racewerks Intercooler

-she's a big girl, requires trimming (e90)

-mounts up in stock location

-lines up great, high quality couplers and T-bolt clamps

-handles the SFV heat no problem, car is very consistent

Reserved to post logs from my Wagner FMIC. It was plug and play. Literally 30 min in the driveway. it cooled off here <80f and later this week I'll be on the coast where it will be hotter and more humid. I'll torture it and post the logs. Anything in particular anyone wants logged?

The new prototype I'm testing on my car

Huge frontal surface area, stepped core for max volume, mixed finpacks for IAT suppression while minimizing pressure drops.

I think I requested that this be done about 6 months ago... Im glad that I'm not alone in wondering not only why new FMIC threads come up every day, but why people who know better (have been around long enough) dont stick to kindly requesting that they search because its rare to have a new FMIC thought.

I hope this works this time. I hope its success leads us to decide that each major mod should have its own "official" thread so that everyone can learn to read the responses everyone else received when they asked about that specific modification.

Reducing redundancy ftw...
