Painting Plastidip??

I was wondering if it is possible to paint matte black plastidip after it is all dried and cured? I recently plastidipped my rear diffuser and wanted to make it a darker shade of black.

I guess he figured that it might be dark enough to right where the op wants it and find out its not dark enough. Kinda like ex gfs haha OP can't you just peel it off and paint it?

I agree with you on the extra coats but unless the base color on the diffuser is light it wouldn't really make much of a difference.

yes you can paint over plastidip i have done that and it is removable too but make sure you don't gloss it! I painted over glossifier once and it looked super tacky and it was a pain to remove it :[ but yeah good luck! let me know if you want pics of what it would look like with gloss black paint over matte black plastidip grilles!

For me, Plastidip would be used if you plan on continually changing the look of your part. Why would you want to swap the color of your diffuser - go the paint route. Unless it was a cost thing...

i wanted to paint it high gloss black but i didnt feel like dropping $150+ on a paint job. And i know you guys r gunna say, paint it your self but i dont wanna spray paint it, i want it professionally done. I just have OCD with that kinda stuff.

I may be able to help you. I have a gloss black diffuser now and am wrapping my roof in metallic gloss black. If it doesn't drive me up the wall I may leave it but if it looks annoying, I may want to upgrade to the performance diffusor and just wrap that to match. Will keep you posted.

This the awesomest thread ever!

If you paint plastidip and you dont like the color, you can always plastidip over the new paint. That fact has been firmly established

That'd be pretty stupid to hand over your plastidipped body part to a professional painter / body shop, pay for their services, only to find out 3 months later the plastidip is coming off. You're better off just getting a professional wrap job instead.

nooooooo. i'm saying if i do want to paint it, it wouldnt be plastidiped, it would be the original diffuser.
