I would think to use the same size BMW uses for the optional staggered 19" wheel option

The tire profile number, also known as aspect ratio, is not a uniform value for all tire sizes. The profile number is actually the thickness of the sidewall, measured as a percentage of the width in millimeters (Thickness of a Tire = Width * Profile as a Percentage).
Thus, a 225/45/18 will have a sidewall thickness of .45*225mm = 101.25mm, or about 4" thick. There is no 'set' profile to go with for an 18" Vs. 19" tire, as it is entirely dependent on width. What you really need to be concerned with is the outer diameter of your tires. You will choose your profile size based on what width you would like to run to match the outer diameter of your OEM setup. What size wheels were you planning to run and what width tires were you hoping to go with? |
