Missing Oil Coolers Made Public
Motor Trend's new article, "The King is Dead" finally publically addresses the missing coolers at http://www.6mt.net/gallery/showphoto...t=502&size=big
I'm sorry, the King Is Dead? The Infinity gets it's pathetic ass whooped by means of the mag tests own data, and the 335i is dead? Wow... Lateral acceleration, 0-60, quarter mile, LOOKS, free maintenace, and fuel mileage... All owned by BMW in the test. Um... am I missing something here? And as I always say about Infinity/ Lexus/ Acura owners... at the end of the day, you're STILL driving an Infinity/ Lexus/ Acura.... |

I don't care! This is important. This is the first time I see it, so for me this is the one. Unlike you, some people have other things to do in their life, and don't spend 24/7 on this forum.
You don't get ""s for jumping up and yelling "repost". |

But I think it is a shame game BMW is playing with the oil coolers and fuel pumps. So any extra publicity made in car magazines to this type of behavior from a high end car company is good for the community, and put a little more pressure on BMW to straiten up. And I think that that is important. |

im going to have to agree here. i think this is important. and i dont care how many times people pose about the absurd comparison between the two cars. For me, there is no comparison and the manner by which the reviews seem to ignore the obvious advantages of the 335. A lot of people are going to post, and continue to post. So if you dont want to read about it just don't click on the threads. I'm sorry, a lot of people spent good money on a clearly superior machine and to have the G37 declared as the killer of the "king" is just rediculous. It's almost as if they reviwers were looking for any way they could post those headlines. So i say rant people. The G37 I'm sure has its merits and IS, in fact, a great car. But "the king is dead" come on...

if there really is some issue with overheating oil and needing an oil cooler, I'm sure BMW will take care of it
in the meantime I don't belive the mags, nobody here has had an issue with needing an oil cooler. |

It's not isolated. People have been posting about it for months. AT cars with sports package didn't get the additional oil cooler. Lots have posted about engine oil temps when pushing the car hard. Some have went into limp mode. It looks like BMW has recognized that it is an actual problem since they are now installing the additional oil cooler on ATs with Sport pack post March 07 builds.

I don't understand, what is the significance of this statement? At the end of the day a car is a car, buy and drive the one you like. I see this a lot on this forum and its bulls**t

Explain. G Bashing.
Quote:
I know people get mad about this, but let me explain. There seems to me a certain attitude from Infinity, etc. owners I have read post on boards, and from people I've met or seen on the road. (The G and GS series mostly.) They constantly run up on Beemer drivers to tussle, and spring a lot of 'tude. No one really cares about what other people drive, but when you have these nit-wits hop into your face, whom is driving a piece of crap, well it just gets old. Thus one feels like putting them into their place. Like a Grandfather who finally grows tired of the snot nose grand kid, and twists his ear off his head. Example: Newport Coast, Ca. Infinity G blazing through traffic on Newport Coast Dr. at 70mph, in and out of traffic, slowing and pausing to look at any German car driver he passes, mad dogging them; "lets go bitch, I have a G, I can waste you German car." (This happened by the way...) Beautifully… here…. God Bless Jesus Christ… comes a 996, a Ferrari Spyder and another Porsche, I didn't see the model, (looked to be a Convertible 9 series?) Older guys except one maybe in his early 40's, proceed to whip the dog shit out of this punk. It was a great ass-down smack fest and even the Soccer moms were smiling about it. Had that driver simply sped through and went on his way, NO ONE WOULD FAULT the guy for what he was driving. I have driven the G, I have recently had 07’ 4 Camry rentals from Shelly BMW while in at service, and have been in everything from Acura’s and on. As a former dealer, I had access and ownership to these cars, and so I have a real opinion, not just what people read. I have NO idea whatsoever where people come up with fit and finish and quality from these machines, except as to their reliability. Fit and finish over a Benz or Beemer is astonishing. I can only believe it comes from media bias. They say it’s so, so it “is.” Opinions become fact because they’re printed. Rush calls it drive-by-media. The interior joints don’t line up properly, there are gaps much wider than in German cars, their buttons and surrounding panels are always bulbous and pillow like, as if everything were snap-in like on a toy model. Their body’s are devoid of any adornments like chrome window treatments, etc. Their stereos suck, and God almighty, do their motors lack any sort of sound proofing and they all sound the same. That grindy, sand-in-the-oil, raspy 4 cylinder sound they’ve been making since 1989. Above all, I have always found every Jap car I have ever owned/driven to be squishy and marshmallow-like in corners and in high speed maneuvers’. I had an 07’ Maxima SE for 3 weeks after an accident had my car in the shop. The suspension was down right scary at speed. Huge front wheel drive torque steer that alarmingly pulled the car when coming out of corners, and a pogo stick effect in very high speed running. My point is that the media reports bullshit. The owners make themselves believe what the magazines say so they can feel good about their purchase. The point is, for someone on a Schwinn to come up on his own, and bitch slap a guy on a Canondale (when that guy was minding his own business,) then the Canondale guy gets to, as Homey The Clown would say, show Schwinn boy “the light.” Like a ‘tard from City College denouncing a Yale grad. A Supply Sergeant denouncing a Green Beret. A Feather Weight YMCA boy denouncing a Pro Heavy weight. Don’t embarrass yourself. It has NOTHING to do with snottyness either. Not one thing!! It’s reality. My rant really boils down to being tired of the magazines and Jap performance car owners “forgetting” to tell everyone about the shitty suspension’s and instead saying how great they are. Notice a lot of BMW owners own Audi and Porsche? They don’t also own a Maxima, G’s and other oddities. In the real world, Lexus and others do not get any respect when in higher end circles. WHY? Seriously? WHY? Audi used to be a hated, piece of shit brand. They came up. They got acceptance. No one said “the GT Ford supercar is a great car… BUT… it’s a Ford.” No one says that because it’s a quality machine; it has excellent fit-and-finish AND it performs. That’s why you’ll see them under the same ownership as a guy with an Enzo. So WHY does Acura/Infinity/Lexus not enjoy the same respect? Because of the owner demographics and their attitudes, and that German owners HAVE owned those cars and know the real deal. They know what’s really going on and have moved on. |

I agree the article is biased from the beginning toward the G35.
However, why BMW left opportunity to fail, not in performance but in reliability? Although the overheating problem are being fixed the gap left open the door to be pointed out. |

This article is a HUGE BS to me... If you look at the stats the 335i coupe is superior in every single segment. Its more expensive ,yes, but if you cant pay it dont buy it.
