Exclamation The Official Vishnu Procede E85 Tuning Thread

The original thread thread was moved to the vendor classified section due to the Rev2.5 Special Edition sale. So this thread will be dedicated to discussing e85 tuning/map setup.

Let's start off with a datalog Big Tom sent me this morning when testing the new 5-23 e85 maps. As required, they were tested using a 50/50 mix of e85 and premium grade gasoline. Big Tom's car is a 6MT with FBO while spraying 800cc/min of ethanol/water mix (80/20). He also gradually start boost to 85% (from default of 35%). And here is his 3rd-4th gear datalog:

This is a good example of what you want to see.

First, fuel trims aren't maxing out at +35%. In this case, they are only going up to ~20% in the midrange and falling down close to 0% at high RPM. Which is great and indicative of a fuel system that isn't working very hard. The meth injection is certainly helping things out here. So don't expect to be able to run this high boost setting without some form of meth injection. If you do, you will likely see your fuel trims flatlined at +34% for most of the RPM band.

Second, timing is reaching the target values. You will see 12-14 deg of actual advance up to 6000rpm. And then ramping down to 11-12 deg above that. That is perfect.

And lastly, AFR is nice and equal between bank 1 and bank 2. If your nominal AFR values look strange, make sure you drop the new datalog set-up files into your Procede folder (as explained in the Read Me) file. If you don't, you nominal values will be off.

If you guys have any questions or have logs for me to look at, please email them to be directly at shiv@vishnutuning.com. Please do not post datalogs in this thread since these maps are still very much in BETA stage.

So can we see non meth E85 testing? Wouldnt the idea behind E85 be the convenience of not having to run meth?

Big Tom's was the only datalog I've received so far. As I get more, I'll be able to post more.

Sounds good... to be honest it would be great to see one of the singles on E85, no meth.

I'd say precise as possible without actually measuring it with a set of kitchen measuring cups. The fuel in the fuel line and tank will mix by the time you leave the gas station. That's not a big concern. I doubt many people will be able to do a full boost launch fight from the pump.

If so, will this be a good rule of thumb to have a 50/50 blend when filling up:
Full tank - No fuel needed
3/4 tank - 2 gallons of e85 & 2 gallons of 91+
1/2 tank - 4 gallons of e85 & 4 gallons of 91+
1/4 tank - 6 gallons of e85 & 6 gallons of 91+
Empty tank - 8 gallons of e85 & 8 gallons of 91+

I myself like to use Shell gas station (93 octane) when ever possible and its about 10 miles from the nearest e85 station. In this case, which station do I fill first and will this be safe running the e85 map until I reach the 2nd location?

Thanks

If your e85 station doesn't sell gasoline, then you can just drive over to one that does in Map0 (stock) and then switch over to the performance map when you have the correct mix in there.

This log was actually with a 40/60 blend of e85/93oct.

In for non-meth logs. Also, what would be target AFRs be with a 50/50 mix?

But what if we do not have access to e85 and we are out of fuel and we need to fill up with just gasoline, do we just switch to a different map that is ok to run with gasoline?

For now, just switch over to map0 if you don't have your laptop and upload a gasoline map file.

Not sure if it's possible, but it would be great to have these:

Map 0: Stock
Map 1: 93
Map 2: 93 + Meth
Map 3: N/A Mode (with the adaptation issues fixed)
Map 4: E85/93
Map 5: E85/93 + Meth

Additional map selections will be offered after this initial beta release. I'm not a big fan of introducing that many new variables at this stage in testing a new fuel.

The only problem I see is that there is only one AFR Offset table for lamda calculations. Come to think of it, I can't really think of any tunes (even for other platforms) that can simultaneously offer a seperate AFR table for both gasoline and E85. You kinda just have to pick one and go with it.

If you're stuck and can't get E85..big whoop, just run map 0 until you're home. It's not like you're stranded because you can't have 440hp on tap.

Are you happy with that A/F ratio? Ideal burn with e50 would be a bit richer, no?

Not quite . We have a second AFR table in the Procede map. Some old school rev1/2 users may remember it. We have since then disabled it. But now it will be re-enabled since now we have a reason to have it.
