Smile Fuel Pump and Oil Cooler Retro Fit

First, wanted to thank this forum and its members for sharing all the information in regards to both issues.

When I started to notice the extended cranking/ignition problem, I was freaking out, and after reading all the threads here + the oil cooler retrofit, I scheduled an appointment with BMW of Manhattan.

This is an excellent Dealership, they picked up my car on Thursday and the service adviser called me to explain everything. I mentioned the ignition problem is probably due to the fuel pump and oil cooler retrofit missing on sport/step early production and she said she would talk to the shop manager for me.

Yesterday, Friday, I was told that it was indeed the fuel pump and she can get a fuel pump for me by Monday. She also said that they will install an oil cooler for me. No hassel, no mention of signing anything. This is the BMW reputation that I know and trust. I will definitely shop again at BMW Manhattan.

Thanks again for everyone sharing their knowledge on these topics.

That is good news.

This is the first time I ever heard anyone say that they could get a fuel pump in 1 business day.

Maybe the fuel pump backlog is behind us?????

I am a little skeptical myself, so I will keep everyone updated by Monday night.

Glad to hear this. IMO, they were going to catch up sooner or later. With the 535i's out now, and the 135i's coming out. If they didn't fix the backorder now, it would totally bottleneck to the 10th power and make BMW's name the laughingstock of the industry.

Update: No Fuel Pump

BMW Manhattan called today, said no fuel pump and unknown arrival date.

They arranged a 328xi for me to use until things are ready. I thought it was too good to be true. Driving home in the 328xi, it feels weird, the AWD's delivery is different than the 335i. Definitely feel the difference between 328 vs 335 in terms of interior quality. Although keep the 328xi in M mode, the car is quite preppy! I kind of wished it was winter so I could have test out the Xdrive in snow.

Atleast BMW Manhattan arranged a loaner in no time and is allowing me to use it for as long as it takes!

I was told the same thing about the FP - that it would be a matter of a day or two before they get it. Ended up taking 40 days. They are being nice to you because they know how long your car is going to be in the shop for.
