Exclamation FBIS Single Turbo 335

We just did some initial road testing before it gets run hard on the dyno. We made some significant improvements to the turbo system hardware since we developed the prototype on our shop car. New CEA 62mm turbo spools up fast. Significantly faster than the non CEA turbo on our shop car.

Shiv, what's that "winding down" noise every N54 makes when you rev it quick?

And does that car have LSD?

That turbo seems to spool REALLY fast!

I do have 275x30 tires on the rear, Quaife LSD, DSS Axles, Clutch Masters Twin Disc 850. It should be built to roll.

I already have replacements at my house waiting for the car to come home. I am stepping up to r-compounds.

Haha nice! What tires did you end up chosing?

jazze90, I chose the Toyo R888. I have heard really good things about them and the SVT crowd simply swears by them. I am looking forward to strapping them on.

R888s are OK, LOTS of rolling resistance, but decent grip. I had 235/40/17 on an E36 M3 years ago, they were not as fast as some of the other R comp choices, and didn't last as long as RA1s.

I might be inclined to try Nitto NT01 R comps. Or if I had bottomless pockets the Michelin PSC like on GT3s.

But back on topic, HOLY CRAP!! That thing spins the tires like nothing. Must have been damp out, but damn. You're going to love that car. Just got a happy couple back out the door in their 535Xi. Trying to convince them to go with a single turbo instead of an M5...

I believe the NT01R is no longer made. There is no nitto r compound in 19 that could fit my car so that wasn't really even an option.

That's crazy. This is when you need to switch to 18's. I think Creaminz has the perfect setup with RS3's.

I don't think I could handle not going WOT. In this car it doesn't seem like anything more than 85% will be productive.

Power is ridiculous.

Laaaaag.
...and then uncontrollable wheel spin.

Sorry, but that is NOT a DD in my world.
It may be very competent on the strip, but... Nah.

LOL! That comment is not what I would expect from an educated car guy like you. Clearly that thing is spooling VERY fast. It is almost laughable that you think that turbo lags. Just because my tires can't handle it at this point doesn't mean it isn't steetable. I wish your airstrip events were closer so I could show you how fast the car will be.
