I think they're alot more focused on other more important issues.

But hey why not, its damn good way to get feedback on their cars. I cant think of a better way for BMW to get feedback on their E9x then to come to e90post.com

I think they couldn't care less about Shiv becoming a multi millionaire.

edit: Nor about anything a small fraction of customers discuss here.

They are watching because once I reported that I was having Navigation issues, Bmwna contacted me almost immediately. And shiv sells procede, not tt.

I know for a fact they are. Not my opinion, but fact.

Now, do they really care about the proceed or AA, etc...? That I do not know.

They produce more cars with tt because of tuning companies. Very marginally though. I belong to the marginal group, because I bought mine due to the fact that 335i is turbo and I was sure it will be tuned easily and cost efficiently. I would not have bought a BMW without 335i existing.

Who is BMW? I'm sure there are many individual enthusiasts within BMW organizations (BMWNA, Headquarters...) who are forum members. Even more of them who read forums without posting.

They collect information from lists because it is an excellent source. Compare, for example, the info that can gleaned from posts here compared to the "gimmee 5s" crap.

I think its someones job to periodically listen in on their performance oriented customers and the tuning scene.

If that were the case, why wouldn't they just take on all mods like suspension, exhaust, tuning, intakes etc...and just kill the market? The cost would add significantly to the product and not everyone wants/needs this type of quality/performance in general. So they leave this area to the enthusiast/aftermarket and they just have their own niche.

I agree that BMW has little interest in policing this area for warranty issues. The existing policy is straightforward, albeit subject to creative interpretation by local SAs. But the aftermarket for performance mods is not insignificant. There is a lot of $ and customer satisfaction/loyalty to be made. Hence the new upcoming Performance division.

You mean like Audi did? Yes, I think they will make some action to thwart performance tuning by anyone other than Dinan. Audi started sealing their ECUs....but then chip tuners just started going thru the OBD2 port. A lot of B7 platform 2.0T audi owners were surprised when they brought their cars in for service and AoA had seen fit to flash the stock program over the chipped program.
