Question F30 Modern Trim. Love it or hate it?

Does anyone like the fake wood trim?

It looks to me like a cross between a Cadbury's flake and cardboard. But wood?

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Garage List
Some like it, some don't, I personally hate it and would take piano black trim everyday. Not seen the 'wood' trim in the F30 but doubt it's much different to any other I've seen. Each to their own .

Don't mind the wood, but then I've always liked wood interiors. However, the beige steering wheel and dashboard, no, no, no, no, no! Not for me!

Totally agree; it looks and feels like roughly whittled driftwood.

I know it is a marmite car, but there will be some who love something like that. Not everyone is into the 'standard' black issue and/or M-sport finishes.

The 328i I tested was the Modern line, not to my taste, but certainly a different refreshing appoach by BMW.

This is a quick picture I took of the interior.

I'd like this trim level, but at present the 328i doesn't come in the Sport line.

Thinking of interiors, when buying my current car back in 2006 the garage were a little apprehensive of my spec', the sales guy was with us, (as it was a BMW recommended combination) but a bit nervous as it was the first with the Mystic Blue exterior colour, Lemon leather, never mind the wood trim combination. My wife is an artist and had no qualms about it at all, wouldn't choose to have the aluminium trim as she insisted it would be washed out, said it would be fine and the 'garage' would be impressed.

When it arrived, everyone at the garage were eager to see it, apparently it got more attention than usual... certainly got the thumbs up. More orders followed in the same combination.

Picture taken the next day to getting the car, back in 2006.

Extra pictures for fun or scorn.

Cars are about personal taste anyway, at least there is something for everyone.

Luckily, the driftwood isn't standard on UK Modern line.

I chose this line because I wanted the cloth/ leather combination.

I would have preferred a darker interior colour, but I'm okay with the oyster.

I am really liking the modern with Havana/Mojave on Oyster but with the anthracite or aluminum trim. I do not at all like the corduroy resin wood as I have dubbed the textured fine line trim.

Saw a Modern in Havana the other day and concur it looks good. Didn't notice what dashboard trim it had.

I was given a 3 day test drive in a Modern trimmed F30. It was hideous... the oyster trim and beige dash/clocks and headlining was the worst thing I'd ever seen. What a way to ruin a perfectly good car.

Luckily I've had a few BMWs and was really only taking a test drive to look at other aspects of the car, such as handling, equipment etc.

If this demonstrator had been my first impression of a BMW I'd have walked away... fast.

I can't actually believed I considered it. Then I sat in one (thanks Jesus the dealer had one) and quickly opted for the Luxury line. The dash and steering wheel colour just don't do it for me. And as for the wood trim....'nuff said.

I know what you mean.
I bought a used Modern, as I have said in previous posts, 2700 miles & saved £13000.
No I wouldn't have ordered a Modern, but for the money it is a great buy.
I like light coloured interior. I initially found the wood to be a bit weird, but i find the light interior relaxing.
I for example, find anthracite head linings with a black interior , oppressive.
A bit like being inside a bin bag.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
