Smile e93 and PROcede v1

Originally, when I ordered my e93 I thought it would be nice to have the PROcede just to compensate the additional weight compared to the e92. I have been sceptic about piggyback solutions and reliability issues.

5 months later:

I'm now at the end of breaking-in the engine ( I installed the PROcede at around 100 miles ) and drove to Germany this morning ( 50 miles distance from my home ) to test the upcoming new v1.4n map briefly and to see how the car behaves on the autobahn at higher speeds and cruising conditions as well. The test lasted about 4 hours.

Wow ! The car is fast, really fast. The power is distributed in a way where I don't see how it could be better. It seems to me that the engine temps are a bit lower than before. I tried to provoce getting the reduced half dark / half light power icon. No way. I tried to provoce the 1500-2500rpm studder. Again, no way. It is too early to say something definitely, but everything looks very good as of now. Next week I will go to a dealership again to have a look if the BMW service computer sees any issues recorded in the ECU with the new map. I don't expect so. And finally, if you like to drive economic, you get a very good gas milage.

Regardless what v2 will be, the PROcede v1 integration already works perfect for me.

Great job, Shiv ! Thank you.

Cheers
Eugen

Are Swiss BMW dealers just nice? Or you know someone who knows someone, etc? Meaning... how do you get your local dealer to check your car without them voiding your warranty? I don't care... I think it's awesome.. just curious. BTW... Is the map you have installed the new 1.45 for step?

All depends on your relationship to your dealership you might have built up in the past ( or not ). I don't know someome who knows someone who has a sister ... My dealership trusts me and I trust them. The map I'm testing is a new map ( not v2 ! ) and will be released soon. It is actually tested from a couple of people. Thus I have no problem to get access to the BMW service computer, I just double-check that there are no entries in the ECU you don't see with the Creader. I do this for me and for all of you having a PROcede, my contribution to the community.

Cool. Looking forward to the info and the new map. Hopefully v1.4n won't be released when v2 is released, unless that happens to be this week.

Are you fine with having the map released in a couple of days ? I'm in close contact with a guy having the e92 ( manual ) and testing it in the heat of South Africa. He is happy with the new map as I am.

It cannot be 1.4X since 1.5 is out already. And because it is > 1.5, I think it ought to be better than AA 1.5...

It's called v1.47 right now but I don't know what will be the final release number. When it comes to testing of v2, let's see what it is and if Shiv likes my testing support. I won't test it in case of the output numbers ( torque ) would be too high for my taste, not willing to become a victim of a tuner's battle

It will be good for him to see also the serial wireless Bluetooth implementation with the remote on-off control.

PROcede v1.47 map and diagnosis

Hi

Have been at a dealership today. The map didn't cause any error entry in the ECU's memory.

However, there is one entry which says that the car is consuming too much current when it is shut off. I highly expect this is thus the PROcede is powered on all the time. Next week, when I will have holidays, I will proof this and if so, will provide a solution for this as a DIY.

Enjoy the new map !

Cheers
Eugen

So much for the Procede being transparent. Hopefully Shiv can find a solution for this. Is there any truth to taking off the Procede three days in advance of service so that code is cleared? Thanks for all the info Eugen... keep up the good work! Also, what other add-ons could cause this error?

This is exactly the entry I'm talking about. Basicly every add-on / aftermarket device can cause such an error if it would consume power when the car is shut off. At this time I only have the PROcede. The fix will be easy, but I have to try first what I have in my mind. I think a quite good result has been achieved up to now, this last little issue is not a biggie.

Dr, I have no idea if the code will be cleared by taking off the Procede three days in advance of service.

Radar detector, phone chargers and any device you plug in will do this. Also accidentally leaving the reading light on will cause this as well. So I don't think you can pinpoint this to someone installing any aftermarket parts.
