My $10 Fix for Non-iDrive Messy Wires... AUX & Charger

Basically drilled a hole in the little compartment and put in a rubber grommet and fed the wires through the center console and under the trim, through the grommet, and viola.

You can drill the hole yourself, but I took the compartment to ACE Hardware and they charged me a mere 7 bucks to drill the hole and center it. The grommet was like 45 cents.

Clean and quick fix instead of running wires across the top.

Hope it helps someone

Enjoy!

Oooooh very nice!

However, A customer review said that the cable won't work if you've updated your iPhone to 5.1 or above. You'll get the "device not supported for charging" box.

Anyone know if this is accurate?

I thought this only works for cars that have the usb plug in the center console. My base model have a 12v cig charger and aux, which I dont think it will work.

This may be a stupid question, but how did you pass the ipod cable thru the grommet hole since the connectors are bigger than the hole?

Lol I turned it sideways and squeezed it through the grommet and then the hole before putting the grommet in the hole.

It might be easier to drill a 3/4 inch hole that the USB side will fit through, and then feed it from the outside of the hole into the trim and through the center console from the bottom.
