Missing piece on rear bumper
Hey all, just noticed that I was missing a square piece on the rear bumper. I attached a picture of it, any ideas where I could buy a new one? Preferably not the dealer

Nobody stocks them painted already - best bet is to buy one from getbmwparts.com and take it to a body shop to have it painted. I just did this for my wife's 128 after someone stole both the front and rear covers. It costs about the same to paint 2 as it does 1, so you might just get a spare.

I'm inclined to believe mine was stolen unfortunately. Called the dealer to see if they could replace it on the original manufacturer warranty, they said they would call me back to let me know

if you bought new, call your CA...I did and he gave me one since they take them off of loaners and stash them in the service department. BTW they are prone to come off so when you install the new cover, apply a little silicone adhesive or glue stick to the 4 corners on the back side. Make sure you just use a dab, you never know when you're gonna have to use the tow hook.

sorry, misread the prior post. I immediately thought you called the dealership in general when you said "dealer". That's why I said call your CA directly since they're more inclined to help you.

theyre not that expensive... well, i guess for how small they are and that they come unpainted, $25 might seem a lot. i had to buy one for my front washer cover last year too.

it happens a lot on high pressure car washes, this piece is $12 at the dealer plus about $20 to paint in any body shop...annoying as hell, i put a piece of two velcro on the inside after losing it twice

When this happens, buy 5 and have 'em all painted at the same time. Hang onto them for when you'll need one again. If you don't ever use 'em (i.e., sell the car), probably can sell them on Ebay.

No need to do that, just glop some silicone weather stripping on the back edges and "glue" them in. You won't even see the silicone. They'll come off relatively easily if you need to get them off, but they won't come off really easily for theifs, or just fall out in a car wash.
