Oil leak
I put my 335 e90 on a lift today to look at my exhaust and downpipes at my friends shop and guess what I saw..... Oil all over on the bottom of my motor and other parts. Oil level indicator shows half way between min and max. No codes being thrown, no warning lights or anything. Only would know about it because I happened to put it on a lift today... Couldn't tell where the oil was coming from due to the amount all over. Anyone have any ideas to what it could be?

Did you take a photo? Between min and max is about 1 quart so you're within the realm of "normal" as far as the level indicator is concerned.
I would suspect the drain plug first. |

If you don't have oil on your driveway check around the valve cover gasket.

Ya, the oil level is normal... No, I didn't take a pic. Would have just shown oil all over. There is oil above the drain plug though. :-/

Is it originating from the front of the engine? Possibly an oil filter housing gasket if so.

Yes. Right below and towards the passengers side of the filter housing. From there it progresses down the front of the engine towards the passengers side due to the angle of the engine and various casting/gasket surfaces along the way. If you have a warranty, new or cpo, it will be covered.

Oo ok. I'll check that out. Sounds like what I have going on. I ran out of new car warranty 2 months ago, but I have CPO warranty and service. Thanks guys

It's dark, but with a flash light it looks wet right below the oil filter housing. So that might be the problem.

Now just complain of a hesitation between 2-3k rpms under light load and maybe they'll do a walnut shell cleaning while you're in there. Unless you've had it done before. CPO will cover that also...

Oil filter housing gasket is common in these cars. Had mine done last summer. Like Mr.5 said once, its not a matter of if, its when.
