Anyone have just a resonator delete?

Going out on a limb here, but I've run into a situation with my 335 where I'm looking to just remove the resonator (long story short, something broke off in the exhaust and is rattling in the resonator as-per my BMW dealer). Instead of paying them $600 to have them cut it off, try to clean it out, and put it back on, I'd rather just spend $100 or so to have the exhaust shop by me cut it out and put straight pipes there. Just curious as to how loud it would become with only the resonator removed, I don't believe any technical issues would arise since it's past any o2 sensors.

Thanks!

take it out and replace by x-pipe. it will sound good on stock exhaust.
basically with x-pipe, that's the same setup as stock e92. so it will be a little louder than e90 stock.

resonator delete on the E90's is fairly noticeable.. you won't get drone but the car will be louder... I have a spare E90 resonator you can have for cheap.. PM if you're interested...

No its after.

I dont know why people would want to delete their resonators, it may open up some sound but the main purpose is to drown out rasp.

If you like the sound or a rasping 335i then go for it.

because in my situation it's an affordable fix that beats the sound of tin cans rattling under my car. I'd rather pay 1-200 versus 600 without a guarantee of a fix...

You wont get the sound of tin cans if you get proper exhaust. All i could do is give you advice its up to you to decide but its not going to do much more then rasp and maybe shave 3-4 pounds.

Id rather pay $20,000 for a supercharged mustang that can do 10 seconds passes. However me and you both opted for BMW's and payed up for the car we wanted.

I would not cheap out now.

The resonators are straight through. There shouldn't be a way for anything to get caught in there. Are you sure the support bracket near the transmission isn't loose causing the noise? If something is in there, it almost has to be a cat that has started to disintegrate?

Hey op.
Here's my take on resonator. It makes a noticeable difference in sound. Combine with the golf tee mod, it's even more pronounced. I like the sound and it is by no means raspy unless you WOT then it will make a slight rasp at around 4-5k rpms. Overall I feel it amplifies the factory exhaust and it shouldve been like this from the factory.
re-enable the golf tee mod and it becomes almost as quiet as before the res delete.

It is worth it to go this route, I rather get this than a full exhaust and retain a oem-esque, classy yet aggressive sound.

that was my belief too...but according to the dealership it's not, and therefore isn't covered under warranty .

awesome! your car sounds really nice, I like it. I have the golf tee mod, so I think I'll go this route...at least until I have a bit more money to play with. Thanks!
