More true than false. If you cruise at 80 you can pull off low 30's I've seen.

The revised estimates are probably right. I can't do better or worse than 21 MPG with 85% hwy 15% city. That's 80MPH hwy avg with the A/C on, and some bursts of "spirit". Without A/C on, I've gotten up to 23. That's no better or worse than what the old M62B44 V8 did in my E34.

EPA has changed the way it estimates MPG.

Starting in model year 2008, estimates will reflect the effects of

Faster Speeds & Acceleration
Air Conditioner Use
Colder Outside Temperatures

What else do I need to know about the new ratings?
The tests lower MPG estimates for most vehicles.

View old/new MPG ratings for a specific vehicle
Convert old MPG estimates to new estimate

The actual mileage you get will still vary based on your driving habits, traffic conditions, and other factors.

All MPG estimates in Find-a-Car have been converted to the to the new ratings system to help consumers compare the MPG of older and newer cars.

In my experience, this new rating is just about spot on, though I typically do .5 - 1 mpg better.

Yep. Same here. My average per tank is almost always 21 or 22. I can get 30 on the highway if I really try to take it easy on the gas pedal.
