So frustrating!
I scraped the bottom portion of my front bumper parking... My coupe is lower than any other car i've owned... I'm so mad at myself, it's Alpine White and the scrape marks are black, it's not obvious (i'm 6'1''), but if you are around 5'5'' you can clearly see it.. I just hate knowing it's there.
Should I try to use touch up paint or get it resprayed? I don't really want to spend much... Any ideas? |

Depending on how big the scrapes are, try buying the BMW Touch-up paint from the dealer. It costs about $28 and comes with clear. It will still be noticeable, but since it is on the bottom of the bumper it should look ok.

Seeing as you will probably do it on many an occasion again, I'd just leave it be.
LOL - 5'5" - you worried the ladies might diss your ride 'cause of the scratch marks?? |

but i'd leave it alone. then again, i've gotten multiple little blemishes in my paint, and now i don't care so much. as long as the car looks really clean without closely inspecting it. |

the only problem will be matching the color, you probably need to blend the fenders to have a match. my car is the same color a had a bmw dealer paint the rear bumper and it came out perfect

My wife has done this TWICE. Now she won't even drive the car, which is ok by me! The BMW touch up paint works wonders, especially in a low and unnoticeable place like that. Plus you will have it for the (hopefully not) next time.

So, I have a tendency to feel each bit of damage to my car, right in my soul. Today a loud clunk emanated from the left side of the vehicle, and I knew some shit had impacted the bodywork. Sure enough, there's a white chip on my driver's side front door.
How I maintain my sanity is like this: You can buy a car to keep it showroom perfect, or you can buy it to drive it, get practical use out of it, and enjoy it along the way. THERE IS NO IN BETWEEN. Road rash is inevitable, unless the car is a garage queen. Gotta just accept it. |

^There are 3 blemishes from that angle alone. Best part is you can't see any of them in the photos!

touchup paint works great.. specially on white.. no point in spending bucks for a respray when you'll just end up scraping it again.. trust me..
i thought about putting the lip on too but then that just makes it lower and easier to scrape.. although then you can just get the lip resprayed : )

Ditch your short friends and it'll all be forgotten by next week. Mine's all scuffed to dog too. Maybe I'll run a strip of black out tape along the bottom edge at least to better define the crease.

Same thing happened to me.
I have ALWAYS backed into spots. I have to do so with my work vehicle so it's second nature to me. The ONE time I had to go head in to a spot at a liquor store I scraped! I'm 6'3 and not even short people could see it. I used touch up paint, and got over it after a while, however I did repaint my bumpers because of other little annoyances, but just get a lip! |

if you're not already lowered with springs or coils, then do that.. then only 4ft people can see it

Did the same thing the other day, so mad at myself. The worst part of it is that I can't blame my wife for it cause she's usually the one putting dings and scratches on our cars but she can't drive a manual.

Doctor Colorchip kit paint is better than BMW Factory.
Doctor Colorchip kit paint is better than BMW Factory
It does not glob and is easy to work with as a result. And is a better paint match. It really lives up to its hype more than a lot of other products. |

yea... it hurts a lot at first... but, i'm 5'9" and can't see mine 'less i crawl under the car... maybe i shouldn't feel so bad about the three times i've heard that dreaded scraping noise.... all the same i now tend to park 4" back from the curb, and have taken to backing in to space when feasible... glad there aren't curbs at my work garage.... and kick my wife out before parallel parking where there is a high curb...
