The ECU won't adjust to any higher octane without being reprogrammed to do so. Using higher octance fuel requires a specific tune to utilise it. If your tune was programmed for pump gas then it won't take advantage of the benefits of higher octane fuel. It allows for high boost and more advanced timing without detonation. The engine will only build boost to the level the Procede tune wants it to and thus it will only add the necessary fuel for such boost levels. The ECU will pull out boost and timing if it detects problems, like a lot of activity detected by the knock sensor, but it will not advance timing or boost beyond their original programmed levels.

Both the stock ECU and the PROcede recognize the difference between 91 and 93 Octane and adjust/adapt accordingly. Now for the OP, if you are running 93 Octane in your car, adding the 100 Octane will not do much as the PROcede at this point won't adjust much above 93 Octane. If you are on 91 Octane, you can dump in 100 Octane and you'll get more power. It won't be necessary to dump 5-7 gallons of 100 Octane in though. Make a mix of 93-95 Octane and you'll be set. |

you are right in the fact that the ECU will pull back timing if it does detect any type of knock and with 93 or 100 octane it will pull a bit more timing with the reduced knock. |

Cookiemonster,
According to shiv running 100oct will help even if you are running 93. It wont be a HUGE difference but it will be an improvement... throw a few gallons in there no need to fill up. It will help the engine run smoother too. |

Ok within a narrow range the ECU will adjust things. Since fuel up to 94 is readily available throughout different parts of the country the ECU is probably programmed to make use it. Going from 94 to 100 won't have a significant difference however.
As for what maps the Procede has I don't know. If it comes with a 91 octane map that is different from a 93 octane map I have no idea. I honestly haven't paid any attention to the thing.

Run 100 octane. You're car will love it. Especially in this heat that we're getting here in CA these last few days.

Yeah its just a test and tune, there is nothing tomorrow. There is no test and tune for a while there on saturday from what i can see on the calendar. I dont expect to do as good as i did in Palmdale, Its a better track but at LACR i was on light wheels with an ok 275 tire, now im on the stock 18's with the RFT's so we will see. Either way it will be fun! My friend is going to try and hit 11's with his STI, thats why im going.
