My PROcede journey begins.....

I had a very welcome delivery this morning by UPS.

I am sitting here with the PROcede still in its box, feeling a combination of fear and excitement.

Should I install today or tomorrow?
What if I get stuck?
Will the performance improvement be noticeable?

I shall download the video and hopefully gain the courage I need to start transforming my car into Weapons Grade 335i.

Oh, the documentation says I have version 1.45. I believe that is the preferred version at the moment.

Cheers.

Enjoy!! No reason to be fearful; I have never changed a tire or oil before and I installed my own PROcede. The difference will be EXTREMELY noticeable.

Hey CaptOz,

Good to see a fellow aussie about to embark on the Procede journey. You may be the first downunder.
I will be following your lead as I am waiting for my E92 335i to arrive. A friend of mine in Gladesville has E92 335i also and is very keen on the Procede also and if you need any support or help, I am local to you also(Gladesville near Star Wash) and available. .
Was going to go to Dee Why if my car was here but it won't be till end of July.

Good luck and congrats

I was intimidated at first by the PROcede install, but after I started doing it it, was easy.
Now, I've done it about 3-4 times and I'm really comfortable with it.

The power difference from stock is huge.

I am passing hour number 4 and I have not even made it to the car yet.

The media players that the MP4 install file requires will not run on my old laptop running WinMe. (It's the only laptop I have)

I have spent hours searching for a MP4 convertor that works.
At the same time, I am trying to upgrade the laptop to Win 2000 without success.

Cheers.

Don't be afraid. Watch the video a couple of times and follow the directions explicitly. Fighting with the microfilter and the larger ECU connector are the hardest parts. Just remember don't force any of the steps. If something is not working then take a step back and try again. Good luck!

Thanks Sparky. I’ll send you a message later.

It was just that the laptop was so old. It only has 32MB of ram, etc. I now have a TV and VCR playing a converted VCD in the garage.

1:00PM Update

I have started the install and I am up to the 2nd harness wiring - just stopped for lunch. It’s taken me about an hour so far.

Easy? Hmmm… I have no skin on my fingers and a bloody cut. I must admit the pulling apart of all the plastic surrounds was a bigger job than I thought too. It makes me realise just how poor my mechanical skills are.

I am heading back out to continue now. Fingers crossed that I won’t have any problems when it comes to startup.

Cheers.

1:35PM....STUCK

I can't figure out how to slide the PROcede's power spade connector into the 40 AMP fuse. The plastic insulation won't let the fuse slide into it.

Cheers.

Install is now complete and NO ERRORS.

I am taking the car out now for its first run. So excited.

WOW

I just got back from my first PROcede run. The acceleration reminds me of my friend’s old CL55. Quite a different experience altogether. It started to pour with rain so I could not get close to being able to maintain traction.

What amazes me it that everything went so well and without any errors. I was sh#tting myself during the installation thinking I was way over my head but all worked out ok.

Can’t wait for the roads to dry out so I can pop out again. The weather here this week is lousy.

Thanks for your good wishes and I’ll keep you posted.

Cheers.

Excellent. If it does rain a couple more days and you have time, any possibility you could post a bullet-point list of your install experience, any other places you got hung up, possible tips for 1st time installer, things you would do differently if you did it again?

Also, did you take any photos along the way?

Have fun with the new car!!!!

Good idea Tuned. I’ll point together some points of my install experience form an absolute mechanical novice’s point of view.

I didn’t take photos but now wish I had. I was probably too excited / nervous to do so at the time.

I’ll post my experience soon.

Cheers.

Just read your PROcede thread - you've inspired me. Once I have a few K's under my belt I will investigate further. I know there is an Australian company that does the excede upgrade on the Gold Coast (or you can do it yourself) which sounds like a Procede copy. I'm wondering which way is the best to go - import or local. Any suggestions. Oh, and well done on installing it yourself - I would be terrified too!
