which tires to get? 2007 328xi

I have a 2007 328xi sedan base model. Ordered M3 replica wheels which are
18 x 8.5 with et 35. I don't know if i should get 225/40 or 235/40 tires. Don't want to have to get fenders rolled. Also, which tire brands are good? Looking to get all season tires. I heard Nittos, Hankook, Kumho are all good, but can't decide. Any help would be appreciated.

225/40 is nasty, ride-wise. I fixed 3 wheels and replaced 1 tire. Last week, I went 225/45/18... much better. They are still new but I have only good words so far for my Bridgestone RE970AS.

I would definitely get Bridgestone or Michelin but they're too much $
Are kumho or Nitto any good?

What makes the difference between the 40 vs 45 tire in your opinion?

Well my wheels came today and the guy from Tire Rack got back to me and said if I want more crisper handling to go with 225 and if I wanted more comfort to go with 235. So I think I'll go with the 235. Does anyone think the +35mm offset will be a problem?

Are you lowered or do you have any type of sport suspension? I'm riding on 18 x 8.5 ET35 with 245/40/18 with no issues. Every car is different though and it depends on what suspension, alignment, etc. you have currently and what your plans are for the future before you can decide on tire size. Either way, 235/40 shouldn't be an issue and will look much better than a 225, especially on a 8.5" rim IMO.

No my car isn't on sport suspension and I'm not planning on lowering it at any point in time.

The 235/40/18 will work fine. I'm running that size all around with 18x8.5 ET40 with the Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas, no complaints so far! Good luck.

Run 225 40 18 and 255 35 18. No stretch at all and you get wider tires like stock. You wont have problems either because your an xi.

The RE970AS I mentioned were among the cheapest quotes I got locally. Thanks Costco.

Is it a test or something?

The results go far beyond the 11mm (3/8") tire height difference; it makes a TREMENDOUS difference in ride quality over bad pavement. That's the reason of my move and the fear of having to fix a bent wheel *again*. However +3.4% in overall diameter may induce lower ultimate acceleration, but that's to negligible level.

Not surprised that BMW passed from 225/40 to 225/45 on F30 with 18". Would do it again.

Just going to get Sumitomos HTR A/S P01's. Got good reviews on tirerack and it's a good price for me. 235/40 all around. Keep them all spring/summer and possibly into fall and if winter is bad put stock set back on.

Thanks for the explanation. My current tires are 225/45 and the roads here suck so I was thinking of having the fronts at 225/40 and rear at 245/40 (have to see if that exists), that's why I asked.
