Exclamation Problem with spare key on a 316ti

Hello everybody,

I have recently bought a 52 plate 316ti, looks and runs great however the spare key doesnt work! The remote features are fine but when I turn the ignition the dash lights up (as it does with the working key) but there is nothing in terms of it even trying to turn over. I have read the manual and have seen that the key needs to be used atleast a couple of times a year in order for it to charge, but i dont think this is the problem as surely if it was a flat battery in the key the remote functions would not be working? Seriously stumped on this one so any help would be greatfully appreciated.

Not sure about your car but on my e90 you get a warning on the dash if the battery in the key needs charged..

Like I said i dont think the battery is dead as the remote locking is working fine, when the key is turned the lights etc work, it just wont turn over (there is nothing even suggesting the engine is trying to start) I really dont want to give the car up as its a beautiful looking motor!

Dealer it. Not much you can do. Its probably been coded out of the car at some point as assumed lost.
