Brodit ProClip vehicle mounts for F30

For those looking to mount stuff in their new F30, Brodit now lists 2 different vehicle mounts for the F30. A center mount, and a left/right mount. Unfortunately, a lower center console mount seems to be missing (next to the gear selector), as is available for the outgoing 3-series.

This is pretty interesting. Using an Apple iPhone4S, I hadn't really thought that anyone would use an alternative mounting solution to the BMW center console clip-mount.

And seriously, would anyone really try to mount an iPad in the front area of their car?

This type of mounts are the best. Anything which uses cig lighter as a mout, suction cup, or dash board bean bag is crap.

I have used these types of clips but same idea as in the post above.

I use one for my phone mostly but I do have a different part that I can put on to have the iPad up front... I did it a couple of times so far

I am considering the headrest mount, so my son can watch movies on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 without holding it in his hands.
But up front I'm looking for a place to put my Nexus S. I'm just not sure if the center mount would end up blocking the idrive display.

Brodit Center Mount

I got myself the Brodit Pro Clip Center Mount for the BMW F30. Installation was very easy, it just snapped onto the trim. After that you screw on the holder for your device (GPS, Phone).

The air vent can still be controlled, but obviously airflow will be impaired. But I don't really consider that a problem.

With the TomTom Active Dock (magnetic mount) attached

With the TomTom Go Live 1005 (5 inch display)

This is an awesome product that was also available for the E9x ... Since you get the iDrive anyway I would get that for my Garmin and save $$$$ on the Navigation package

Imagine you have your phone there, would it block the view to the idrive? I know that it was one of your previous concerns but since it looks pretty neat, I'm wondering to get one as well, just don't want the view to be blocked (also because I found an ok but different solution for now)

GPS systems like TomTom and Garmin are much cheaper, not just to buy, but also consider the map updates! And you can easily add your own POI for things like speed/redlight cameras and in my case with the TomTom Go Live I get quite accurate traffic information, much better then the TMC system that the BMW navigation has in any case.

The down side, is that you will need to find a place to mount it, typically will need a power cable, and you don't get navigation in tunnels.

I think it would be OK putting a phone there. I have a colleague that also has an F30 on order and plans to buy a Brodit kit to mount his Galaxy S2. But last I spoke to him about it, he was thinking about perhaps getting the A pillar (left mount) bracket.

Hmm.. yeah the left mount one is nice too, perhaps even better, but it would make it harder to charge it through the lighter. I could get the permanent one but I don't really want to do anything with the power cables.

I had used the proclip for years in my E46(1999) with a RamMount. Never dropped the phone. Solid. I just got the Ram cup holder mount. Very well made. Flexible shaft to the 4S. Doesn't even vibrate. The height places the top of the phone level with the CD slot. I got USB and audio extension cables from Amazon (3 footers) and snaked it thru the bottom of the center console armrest compartment. I can send pix if anyone is interested

Brodit holder for Galaxy Tab 10.1

To prevent my tablet from flying through the car, when my son is using it, I installed the Brodit mount on the headrest with a active holder for the tablet.
  • Brodit 811020 - Headrest mount
  • Brodit 512329 - Active holder for Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

Positives
  • easy to install
  • rotates between landscape and portrait

Negatives
  • No cable management
  • rather large cigarette power plug

Just ordered the right mount one; am a little bit sceptical about how close it is going to be to the wheel and hand when turning but I guess it is well designed... Hopefully!

Nice Accessory

These mounts are great!! I had two of them in my E90. The A/C mount for my GPS and the column one for my phone. I really miss them. I have the navi package so I really don't need to use my Garmin (although it's way better). But I am thinking about using my dash one, which by the way is the same for the F30 and E90 to mount my phone since I can't use my Android phone with the Technology package. I have one in my work car and have my XM radio mounted to it. Nice for sure.

Has anyone tried the left mount for LHD? I'm thinking about buying that, but trying to figure out if it will look tacky if the GPS isn't in it. Pondering just getting a cupholder mount and putting it there when I need the GPS...

I'm looking for a way to use a ProClip mount just forward of the iDrive controller, with the mount clamped to the console where a passenger's left knee would be.

In other words, one of the adjustable console mounts listed here: http://www.proclipusa.com/adjustable...ngoptions.aspx

My car doesn't arrive until next month... would someone be kind enough to measure the height of the car's plastic console so I can determine which adjustable mount to buy? I'm thinking I'd need the biggest version, 5.2-7.1 inches.

Has anyone found a good mount that can be secured between the dash panels on an F30? I don't want to block any A/C vents (it gets HOT here in the summer!) or mount anything on the windshield, don't like the A-pillar mount as I'm not left handed, need the cig lighter for my V1, and I don't want to use up a cupholder spot.
