You're better off doing with whatever suits your needs.

Do you want to lower your car? Buy an aftermarket suspension. Do you want to keep your car stock? Buy the stock struts (but get them installed at an independent shop. Don't let the dealership rape you).

$700 is waaaay too much. The part is just $100 I think. A pro could probably get them changed in 30 min. It's really easy.

It depends on how much a aftermarket suspension costs?

You can get the OEM struts here for $150:

If you look around, you can probably find a shop to install them for $100 or so.

Also with aftermarket suspension you're looking at additional costs (all approximate):
  • Added cost of worthwhile dampers and springs or coil overs: $800 - $1500
  • Alignement: $125
  • Additional install cost: $500

I don't see you spending less than $1500 extra for aftermarket but it may be worth it for you. It was for many of us.

Depends on why you want out of your car.

If you are looking for replacement struts and shocks only, have a look at Koni, much better than stock and come with damping adjustments for less than $800!
