Shock/Strut Mount Replacement?

I'm planning to do a spring and strut replacement to Bilstein Sport and Eibach springs. Is it recommended to buy new bushings and strut mounts when doing a swap like this. My car has 85k miles.

Turner Motorsport has a kit, is it recommended?

At that mileage, I would. The upper strut mounts have bearings. Do you know if the rear shock mounts in that Turner kit use the same material as oe? If so, I'd consider the Dinan rsm's. I use the Dinan rsm's and they reduce bounce and increase shock travel 1 cm. What are you using for bumpstops? Have a look at 'jwong77's thread on bumpstops: E36 M3 front/E85 Z4 rear since you're lowering your car.

Thanks for the input on the bumpstops, I'm going to try out the E36/E85 combo. Are these the correct part numbers?

E36 M3 front bump stop, 31 33 2 225 377

E85 Z4 rear with protection tube: 33 53 6 770 350

As far as the front and rear mounts, the package from Turner is the OE. I plan to use all these parts with the Eibach Pro-Kit and Bilstein Sport Shocks for the XI.

The bumpstop description is correct; idk about the p/n's; they're in that thread I mentioned. You might want to replace the spring pads too. I did when I changed springs. If the price is good at Turner, you're all set. If not, Tischer has good prices on oe parts or maybe AutohausAZ has them. Again, if you want to remove some of that rear end bounce these cars have due to the subframe bushings and upper/lower shock mounts, the Dinan rsm's help a bit.

Called Turner earlier, the Bilstein Shocks/Struts for xi have built-in bumpstops.

I replaced my suspension at 45k miles and none of the rubber parts were worn. I replaced most of them anyway but there was no need. The strut upper mounts were in perfect condition, and we have really bad roads here.

Thanks for the input, I'm leaning toward not replacing them since I don't have any current suspension issues. The whole strut mount kit is about $300 in parts I may or may not need.

Just as an information, the two strut mounts are not more than $100 for both, if you now have standard suspension, and $200 both if you have sport suspension.

In Europe they are much cheaper though, and many brands available. They cost like $80 for both for the sport suspension

That's true for the struts, but I think the rear shocks use external bstops on the shafts.

Correct, I just opened my package from Turner today, now just to wait for the springs and do the install!

Those p/ns are correct. Bilstein struts have bump stops included inside the housing, so you won't need the front bump stops.

The rear Bilsteins also have bump stops. I just installed Bilstein B12 (=Eibach Pro-Kit + Bilstein B8) and all of the shocks had bump stops, and also the nuts needed to mount them, dust covers, and some big washers that are placed above the bump stops. Bilstein is not cheap

How that set-up working for you?
