Will i have any fitment issues?
I'm in need of new tires to replace my stock rft's 225/45/17 i believe. Looking to up the size to 255/40/17. Will this cause me any issues? I know the diameter would be different, but seeing as our cars read 5mph fast anyways it wouldn't hurt would it? What about 45 profile? too large? im looking for some more meat to make it loook a little more aggressive. thanks guys

255/40/17 and 225/45/17 are almost the same height so there are no speedometer issues. I guess my questions are the width of wheels you have and which wheels axle(s) you are looking to upsize tires. 225/45/17 front and 255/40/17 is staggered tire sizing BMW offers, but on a 17x8" and 17x8.5" wheel set.
I'm guessing you have a set of 4 stock 17x8 wheels with 225/45/17 tires, but it would be helpful to confirm. Then someone else can advise about potentially fitting a 255 onto an 8" wheel for the rears since I don't think you should put a tire that wide on the front. |

Ya on a 17x8 wheel. Im not worried about fitment at all. Ive seen much worse pulled off. For instance those hell flush with 245 on a 10.5 that should have at least a 285 if not 315. Ive seen people put skinny nitto 295's on a 8" rim, albeit on a mustang but 255 will not be a problem as I'm looking for a bit of bulge. Different car scenes have different standards for tire fitment, and bmw scene seems to think that tire manufacturers and bmw recommendations are the only thing that matters.

Just trying to offer some advice. If you knew the answer already, then why did you post the question?!? And of course, my opinion represents the entire BMW scene. I just personally don't think a 255 would look very good on the front, and might rub when you turn the wheel sharply. Jackass.
