Quick question, might have screwed up
Will 225/40-18's fit on a 18x8.5 rim? Is the rim too wide for the tires?

They fit. Might be a tad stretched depending on the tires. Rim may not be inside the wheel protector band of the tire - this is the case on my 225/40 Michelin Pilot Alpin PA2's on 18x8.5" wheel.
