Hi,

If its April 10 it will not have the combox fitted. The combox only came along for post Sep 10 build cars. Does yours have 7 digit post code search? Normally the 7 digit post code search comes with the combox cars.

No idea about 6NR. You can ask your dealer to print out a build sheet and check if 6NR is on the list.

No combox, the seven digit postcode will highlight this, also differences on iPod/iPhone use, doesn't show album art... 6nr was only available from I think September 2011 onwards so far no sensible retro fit for either option...

I am a bit confused. I do have the combox, but no 7 digit postcode search. I do, mind you, have the 2010 maps and others have said that one needs the 2011 maps onwards for the 7 digit post code to work. I took delivery of my approved used today and it had the latest software update too, so now I need to source a three disk set and a code to get the 7 digit post code search...

I updated my maps to 2012 premium. Downloaded the 3 DVDs from UseNet and then give a guy a reasonable fee via paypal for the product key.
I used a couple of USB sticks to upgrade via the glove box usb port. Very handy!

I have heard of that. And did this give you any new features (7 digit post code, 3d google in cities etc)?

Definitely have the 7-digit postcode search now. Dont know if I had it before.
Maps are still over 1 year out of date though which is bloody annoying!

My car is MY 09-10 without internet option so dont think I get the google 3d city.
Is there a way of turning it on/off if you have it?

I think there is. You have to go 'perspective' and then tick the 'satellite images' options on the menu and chose a scale greater than 1 mile. If you do not chose perspective view you see the regular google maps. But I only received the car yesterday, so I will need to check.

I'm a bit confused too; my Sep '10 F10 has full postcode input and I have connected drive. I can also do things like a google search for services etc., and I can call BMW via iDrive and the car's SIM for additional route info or, I imagine, just about any question I need answering. Does this mean I have a combox? I've just been through my original spec list and can't find anything titled '6NR'.

By the way, how can I check if I have the 3D buildings? Is there a particular scale I need to have the google maps in? Also, do I need to go into options and make any adjustments? I live in a relatively large town/city but I do not know if this feature is only available in London, Manchester etc..

Looks like I might be wrong... Not the first time... For some reason I was pleased to have sept '10 build rather than a pre sept '10 build, I think I put the wrong date on my last post?

Jon,

The combox is option 6VC which you probably have. the 6NR is ipod integration.

Hi Malith,
Thanks for the response, trouble is I'm still confused as I have neither 6VC nor 6NR, but I appear to have all the functions that both provide, including iPod integration.
