I've come across a software update.

I'm not sure if others are aware of this update but I came across it while fiddling with the iDrive stuck in traffic. Accessed via Settings/Software Update.

This one shows the current software

This one shows the new software

I can't imagine it will add 10bhp but I'll be interested to see if there is any difference.

I thought it was something to do with iphone. Doesn't it tell you if you press the idrive controller while highlighted?

Bugger. I didn't try that. And it's updating now so it'll be greyed out like the top pic when it's done. Doh!

I tried updating mine, but it kept on crashing before complete. And you can only update while stationary and with the fob in the slot

I suspect this is an option for cars with the most recent i-drive. As far as I'm aware it isn't an option on my car that although it has HDD Pro i-drive, has the 2009 version - unless others can tell me different?

The dealer says the only way to update the software for my i-phone to be compatible is for them to have the car (at a cost).

Odd. Mine stuck at 89% for a while but then got on with it. But I didn't leave the fob in the slot. I left the engine running, got out and locked it and had a cup of tea. Now I'm at my desk so I'll have to wait and see if the car is faster

Having a look here it appears there's no real difference between the two TX updates for my 3GS but one or two for eg the 4S. God knows what the MX update refers to.

You can download it frOm the owners section on BMW.com and update via USB. I did it a week or two ago but haven't noticed any difference?

this makes such more sense than taking the car into the dealer. Wonder if you can get car software updates as well?

BMW by law have to make software updates available to all independents. Any garage with autologic can put the latest firmware on the car.
