Euro Air Box or aFe's New Stage 2 Si Intake?
I've read about the Euro Air Box and see that it goes for about $420 shipped (from ECS Tuning) with the stock paper filter.
I also came across aFe's new Stage 2 Si intake which looks a lot like the Euro Air Box setup: http://afepower.com/shop/details_new...as&&brandID=56 I'm new to BMW's so which one would you recommend for my E90 sedan? I can buy the new aFe Stage 2 Si intake for about $15 less than the Euro Air Box. |

I'm pretty new to BMWs as well, but from what I've gathered spending a lot of time reading around here is that more often than not people recommend not even bothering getting a new intake.... Unless you've got a reason for it, the performance difference by itself apparently isn't very much. I'm still trying to find ways of maximizing performance per dollar, and it sounds like a 3-stage manifold for an N52 engine plus a tune is the best bang for buck right now.

Normally I would stay away from the 'open to underhood heat' style AFE CAI over the Euro Box, but that new closed system AFE looks as if it is a nice piece.
I would say it is a viable alternative to either the Euro box or Performance version (if you can get it cheaper) - plus it gets rid of the oem silencer on the intake tract which is a nice feature, since this is retained with either the Euro or Performance CAI. Where are you buying that it is cheaper then the Euro? Since AFE site lists theirs for $555...

The website says it produces 12hp and 15 ft-lbs. I would stay away from any product that has retarded claims attached to it. I mean, they just make shit up.

Autoanything.com has it for less than aFe's website, but you also get 15% off if you are a first time buyer, comes out to around $405 shipped.
As for the HP/Torque claims, I don't know if I believe 12/15 either, but who doesn't make shit up these days to sell their product. |

The AFE intake has two inlets open to underhood air. Not sure how that's supposed to keep the system working as a CAI. Looks to me the OEM Euro intake is about as good as its going to get.

I just put the Euro box on last week. I can't seem to tell a difference performance-wise, but it does make my PE sound even better!
And it makes replacing the filter a breeze. |

I'm about to do the eurobox mod, i heard it yields the same ups and downs as the real eurobox but im not too sure, if you want super cold air, might wanna think of a nitrous fogger system or some meth and water injection... it'd be worth every cent! lol
