is this the correct 3 stage manifold???

the oil seprator lines dont seem to line up correctly. the two ports on the bottom of the manifold are different than my 325 manifold (it only has one port in the middle).

this is the X3 manifold

this is the 325i manifold

What you have is the manifold for a car with the oil separator located in the head, like the 328i has. It is a three stage manfiold, but you will need to have someone make you a part to fit as I do not believe there is an OEM part you can use.

You could possibly cap off one of the holes in the manifold and run the line from the oil separator to the other. I don't see why it wouldn't work, but I don't think anyone has ever tried.

That is what i was afraid of. I looked at it and figured out how I can make it work by cutting some hose and attaching it in the correct spots. The only problem is that I would not be a 100% confident that the connections would be tight enough. Back goes on the 325 manifold. Thanks.

I have a hose that you can use. It attached to the oil seperator and as 2 outputs to attach to the manifold. PM me if interested.

All you need is the vent hose from the 330 which I believe is what DESI4life10 has.

I dont want to jack the thread or my man DESI's sales post; but I have a brand new one for sale as well (if DESI's not brand new and if that's what you're looking for). Still in sealed wrapping.

$50 shipped.

How are you guys finding salvage intake manifolds? Paying $1100 for new parts is a lot to stomach...

Good prices, but seems kind of dicey. How do you know you're getting exactly what you need? Do you have a chance to confirm part numbers with a real person, or do you just take a chance?

When you call the place, ask them to get your a few pictures of the part to confirm its what you need. If you do that, you shouldn't have any issues. Also, make sure you ask if the adjuster units will come with the manifold.

go to generalautorecycling.com, i got mine for $225 shipped with adjuster units and extra hoses. all you have to do is go to realoem.com and find a 3 stage, get the part number, then give it to the recycling yard.

Look and see if there are 2 adjusters on it, if so then its the one you need. you might need some extra hoses depending on if its a 325 of 328. here is the manifold off an '07 530, looks llike a 3 stage to me. bimmer bob can get the manifold part number off here also. check the link out.

not yet, i will have it done soon. i already took the manifold off but did not have the correct hoses for the 3 stage. it was a daunting task at first but now that i have taken it off once the second time will be a breeze.

Sounds like a perfect candidate for a DIY, lol (but I'm sure snapping pics while you're elbows deep in engine is not real high on your "to do" list).

Well, be sure to at least post your impressions when your finished. I'm really interested in doing this, but am worried mostly about how it will affect power delivery - the engine is so buttery smooth as is, and seeing the abrupt steps in the power curve (corresponding with the intake's stages) has me a little concerned. Maybe the tune smooths things out? I guess what I'm saying is that I don't want to sacrifice refinement for a little bit of power, if that makes sense.

Good luck.

Do I need to get any parts other than the list?

11617547242 Gasket set
11617535849 x5 Screw 50x20
11617535850 x2 Screw 50x35
11617535851 x1 Screw 50x66

it depends on what car you drive. if you have a 328 the oil seperator is built into the crank case i believe so you might not need those hoses or any extra hose and that oil seperator. i also believe that you do not need those screws because they are for the disa actuators which are already bolted onto the manifold. i see that you have a "bore washer" missing from that manifold in the middle bolt area, you will have to get that off your currently installed manifold.
