Engine fault & loss of power

Engine fault signal turn on when I drive over 120 km and instant loss of power. I had to turn off the engine and start it again, then the signal disappear what seems to be the problem anyone know? The only thing I did to the car is an ecu upgrade a few month ago. Should I take the car to a local BMW service ASAP or the company that remapped my ecu? Please help me out thanks

That is probably the first step - more then likely some parts needs to be replaced now that your car is tuned and is pushing them harder!

What tune did you get, and who did it? What are your new power specs?

Unless it's the BMW Power kit you installed there is no warranty.

Pay to play.

Get it checked out by your independent BMW person whom installed the flash.

What ecu upgrade? Occasional check lights are normal IMO depending how hard you push it. Procede used to be capable of clearing them...

I think it's just a standard ecu remapped like all other 335i from a company called Ramspeed in sevens hill , Sydney !! Guys do you think I should bring the car back to them and get them to check it out or anyone from this forum is familiar with this error( instant loss of power) until you shut engine off completely and on again. Btw have anyone experience any mod with Ramspeed in sevens hill before ?

Take it back so they can check what error code you got. If it was a misfire it could be spark plugs, coils, injectors or several things that is starting to fail.

Has this only happened once?

The ecu flashes don't offer as much flexibility to changing conditions as piggy back tunes. It could be an airflow error or cyl6 misfire, etc which are typical for tuned N54's.

I've never heard of kraftwerk, but best to take it to them so they can read the code and see what caused it, then erase it. Make sure you find out what the code is so they don't BS you. The dealer would likely fix it, but you face losing warranty plus all expenses.

If you've done a lot of km's maybe you should also look at some new plugs, and coils etc? IMO, the extra power requires a bit more love, like more frequent oil changes, etc

Supposedly Kraftwerk are pretty famous in Sydney, they do a lot of high end cars.

We got a dealer over here but it is quite pricey for just a flash!

If it is happening quite often then is most likely a consumable part in your engine is on its way out since you are pushing the car harder.

But can't tell without those codes!

Go back to the dealer that installed the tune. I have the same tune & have experienced the same issue. Unfortunately, like what the others are saying this means that your putting more pressure on some of these parts.

My fuel pump was the first victim, but 335 fuel pump is known to have issues. I replaced it with the current fuel pump - same pump as the 1M - no more issues.

My car recently showed the 30FF code, vacuum line issue, low boost. I haven't fix this yet. I believe there is a post somewhere about this issue.

I would'nt be surprised if the coil pack is next. From my observation, these parts are often the ones that needs replacement sooner or later, since the tune puts them to work a little harder they go out quicker than usual.

I'm trying to get better quality materials for these parts, so they can handle the tune. I only go into "limp mode" on track & never on the road. So, as long as your not pushing the car every time you drive hopefully it will hold until you found the answer.

Hope this helps.
