Cool Custom Intake Heat Shield

So I just completed my custom heat shield.

I used sheet metal and cut out the approximate shape of the open space where my injen intake is. I then wrapped the metal in Carbon/Kevlar fibre material. I used marine grade epoxy and hardener.

The kevlar was a pain in the a$$ to cut. Didn't matter how sharp my scissors were they couldn't cut it. I had to use an exacto blade and even that took forever and it wasn't pretty.

All together it took 3 days to complete. Keep in mind that this is the first time using carbon fibre ever. Never worked with fiberglass. Used youtube to learn how to cover the metal (skinning). I got the material and epoxy from my brother who used it on his race car he was on the SAE team at McMaster.

Here is some before and after pics.

Here is it covered with really thin flashing.

As you can see I have it mounted to one of the original intake mounting point and the steering fluid resevoir.

Now here is the finished project.

Cheers
Jasper

OP how do you like it? Does it just shield the top, or make basically an enclosed box?

So far so good. I really like it. It's almost completely enclosed.
