USS Green Bay - departed 3/2

In an unexpected turn of events - I found out today that after missing my ride on the Tortugas, I set sail on 3/2 on the Green Bay!!!! Sooner is generally better but being a red blooded American - can't say I'm unhappy to be on a ship that's waving the good old Red, White, and Blue!!!!

Noice! Congrats, Mac. Here was her last position before she went off radar a day and a half ago and sank.

She's a majestic hulking hunk 'o' steel. And travels 1 knot on average slower than the venerable Tortugas. Just sayin'.

To get the map position, on Marinetraffic.com click on "Itineraries History" --> go to the last known position entry and click "show on map"

Top date, all Avondale-built ships have had serious problems: USS San Antonio, USS New Orleans, USS Green Bay, and USS New York.

Most ships don't report their location on the Atlantic.. however, sometimes it's a different reason... hmm

Anyways, here are some sites for you to help tracking it:

- http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/

Funny thing is, the Tortugas doesn't report on the 'sailwx.info' while your ship seems to do... hmm... Something like this comes to mind: http://shipwreck.net/tortugas.php (on a more serious note, I think it kinda sucks we can't use that one since I wanted to do a full track of the shipping, and make some kind of a booklet with images and stuff lol)

Well, look at it this way....if the Green Bay does sink, perhaps you can at least persuade Gordon Lightfoot to sing a song about it?

Cristobal

Why does the destination for the USS Green Bay say Cristobal? Where is that?

To get to the Pacific Ocean the ship needs to go across the Panama Canal. Once through the canal, the ship will sail north to California.

If you are unsure and have the VIN of your car, you might be able to see on what ship it is on the following site: http://www.2wglobal.com/www/customer...LaunchPage.htm Simply enter the VIN where it says "Cargo ID" and click 'track'. It is possible that they don't know your VIN there, that doesn't say anything though, my car is almost in Panama and that site still doesn't know it lol. The other way to find out (same as I did since that tracking site didn't cooperate) is to call your CA and see what ship it's on ).

Too bad it's now 8:30pm local time and it's still not registered as in port! Tracking shows it at the shore since noon-ish so I'm still hoping they started the unload today.

Any updates? I think I am on the same ship as well. Dealer told me that car is arriving at port on 3/29. And according to MacAttackBMW, it is 2 days earlier.

Anyone know the approx time it will take to from arrival at port to arrival at dealer (~100 miles away in socal)
