How to rejuvenate leather?

Hey guys, I have black dakota leather and the 2 front seats have dulled out spots here and there where the leather is a lighter shade, some area a bit white and faded. Looks terrible. When I use Meguiars leather conditioner for example and it is moist the leather looks awesome, but as soon as it drys it looks the same again. Any suggestions? Also have one small spot where the leather has been scuffed off a tiny bit.

Thanks guys

... greetings ...

i have used following three products by recommendation of many pros on this forum:

i am assuming that your leather is in very good "shape" ... may i suggest the first 2 products ...

Keep in mind you are working with the protective layer of the leather and not with the leather itself!
1.
Swissvax Leather Cleaner
Swissvax Leather Milk
(amazon.com)
(detailersdomain)
2.
Leather Master Universal Cleaner
(Leather Master Strong Cleaner)
(Leather Care Vital) used on older leather
Leather Care Protective Cream
http://shop.unitersna.com/collections/leather-master
(detailersdomain)
3.
Leatherique Prestine Clean (used on older/worn leathers)
Leatherique Rejuvenator
(detailedimage)

... regards ...

Not sure if you are but it wounds from the OP like you are letting the conditioner dry onto the leather before you buff it off? You should definitely remove it wet since you'll never get it off otherwise and that would be causing your problems. You say that the leather looks best when it is wet but that shiny coating is not desirable. The leather should have a uniform matte finish.

Try leatherique. Over time dirt, salt, old conditioner and body oils coat and clog the leather surface so that it gets that nasty shiny look. This product pushes all of that out and leaves the finish matte and fragrant after the cleaner

Thanks for the replies. I know you everyone swears by Leatherique and I've seen some impressive before and after pictures.

But, my problem isn't with dirty leather. It's these strange white-ish blotches here and there. I refer to them kind of like "dulled" out leather. If I just rub my hand over them they go away and keep coming back. Only when the leather is moist will they go away, as soon as it drys it'll come up again.

This is probably only something that happens with black leather. I'll try and get some pics if I can capture it with a camera.

best to post pictures. sounds like either a residue or dried out areas. both would be masked by "wetting" the leather.

I still think that it's one of the best options you have that you can try yourself...try it, it's inexpensive...if it doesn't work you probably need to re-dye the leather. I wish I had some before and after shots of what it did to black leather on my 2001 325i. It had splotches of whitish stuff all over the black leather seats when i got it (the whole car was nasty, hadn't been cleaned inside or out in over 2 years when I got it). Lexol cleaner wouldn't touch it but a few days with the Leatherique Oil plus the second step of removing the excess oil and dirt that floats out of the leather with Pristine Clean and the really terrible looking leather looked like new again.

Here's a link to the instructions for Leatherique (if you haven't read them yet):
http://www.leatherique.com/do_it_you...irections.html

Their site also has DIY instructions for re-dying leather.
