HELP! 2009 318i Failled Emissions (high) Test - been to dealer

Had the compulsory MOT test which is the cars' first test as its just turning 3 years old

Idle Emissions test PASSED

but 2250-2750rpm HIGH REV emssions test FAILURE

and it failled on all 3 attempts

Went to dealer and the service guy said there is a special way to test the emissions on my car, as if you put your foot down to 2250/2750rpm the car will "shut down" so you cannot do an Emissions test????!!!!

WHAT IS THE KEY THEN! The MOT tester who had been doing the same test for 15+ years should know!

The service guy suggested, from idle, put your foot down to 2250/2750rpm then release the pedal, and then on the second pushing down of the pedal it will be OK

WHAT??!!
