2012 E92 Base Stereo

Does anybody know if the newer base system now includes a separate amp in addition to the tweeters. I know the earlier 2011 328 models had no amp and only 6 speakers, but they went back to 8 speakers. But does it have an amp now.

I had the old setup and have heard a new one and I think it doesn't sound as good. It still is the easiest to upgrade.
This only applys to the US models I believe.
I think the change back was in the September build 2011.
