Hope to do first half of May but need to finally decide between: - 335i vs. 328i - 6MT vs. 8AT - tech goodies vs. low tech (no Nav, etc.) I was just comparing notes to the F10 I almost pulled the trigger on last year. With the low residuals and much higher price point, even a loaded 335i is significantly less than the lightly optioned 535i M-Sport I was looking at. So, will probably got all out on 335i with Nav, Adaptive suspension and maybe camera package. |

Nice car
Always amazes me how few walls you guys have around your houses in the USA. Here all you see in the suburbs are 6-10 foot walls with electric fencing ontop and large gates

lol I always heard those large walls/fences/gates are also really necessary in South Africa as opposed to most places in Europe/US. It seems to be a bit more dangerous at your place (from what I hear)

I'll post a longer review once the car is broken in; I'm still on the tank of gas the dealer put in it. But, in short, it's the best car I've ever had by a wide margin.

This being Africa, the criminals are heavily armed and we normal citizens are heavily restricted with gun licences being hard to get.
Being shot dead in a hijacking is a greater problem than them getting over the walls though Anti smash and grab tint (very strong tint that hold the window glass together if smashed) is fitted here as a necessity as they will break your window at a stoplight to grab anything they can get their hands on. Takes 3 seconds or so on a car without the extra strong tint. Any sponsors for a green card ???

Here are some shots after tinting the windows. I went with Wincos IR Rejection film HDC-30 (ceramic extruded film, 34% visible light transmitted, 92% IR rejected), which is the maximum tint allowed in TX on the front windows. I decided to have uniform tint on the car, so didn't go darker on the back or rear windows. Pretty high end film for window tinting, but the reduction in heat into the car is just amazing.
