AA tune vs power box
Which one is more effective for the 2009 328i? Which will have a higher power gain? And is it possible to get both?

AA will give you more. power box is okay but will leave you wanting more (cheaper option). if you're going to do a mod and already coughing up the bucks for the power box, just go for the AA tune and never question it again.

AA tune is a performance tune.
Powerbox is throttle remapping with a little bit of a air/fuel remap. The air/fuel remap part the car will eventually adapt to and render it useless, but the throttle remap will not be adapted to. You can run the AA tune with the powerbox throttle remap if you want. I know I'll get shot for saying this, because the Powerbox is highly promoted on this forum since it's developed and pushed by one of our sponsors, but... personally I would go with an AA tune + Sprintbooster throttle remap instead. Sprintbooster is a complete plug'n'play (no hacking wires and taping them together), and has a physical button w/ light you can use to change the throttle sensitivity which can be changed while you're driving. (No need to shut off the car and stomp on the gas pedal and hoping the map you want has been registered.) Easy to remove if you want to sell the car, and the price is around the same as the Powerbox. (actually cheaper for me in Canada). Sprintbooster however does NOT have a air/fuel remap option. Which is fine since you'll be using the AA remap instead and even if you had the air/fuel remap from the Powerbox it would be disabled anyway. |
