Smoking X3 Diesel
Hi all, My 2005 2ltr Diesel 61k X3 has developed a irregular smoking issue. It runs fine most of the time but at random smokes med to heavy with a strong smell of burning oil. No loss of power is felt and it clears after approx 2-3 miles. It could be fine for days and then just start smoking again. Its not consuming any more oil than would be expected from this car. Any ideas Cheers Andrew.

Could be the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) burning off?

I don't think the 2.0d's came with the DPF...
I would definately have your PCV valve checked at your earliest convenience. A faulty PCV can do some significant damage to your turbo and/ or engine if left! |
