Brake force display

Morning chaps...does anyone know if BFD is for E92 only or is it certain engines that got it?

Cheers Shane.

Taken from the manual:

When you brake strongly, the brake lights of your BMW flash. Once the vehicle has decelerated accordingly, the hazard warning system is activated and the brake lights light up without flashing.

Its proper term is "Dynamic Brake Lights". Page 94 of the Drivers Manual.

Me neither, although I haven't had the car for long and can not have braked "that" hard to set it off.

May give it a go later.

But you still notice the hazards going, presuming they're not disabled within the cockpit.

The hazards only come on if you brake very hard to a complete stop. The extra brake light segments light with hard braking but you obviously won't see this in your own car. If you ever go to a track day you'll see most e92 and M3 doing it. Brake Force Display is standard now on all new models.

Well tried it last night on a dark country road.

When the ABS cut in I could see the reflection of the brake lights flashing, as said in a manual. Only once I came to a complete standstill did the hazards come on, the internal lights are not disabled, so you can easily see this action.

I can only assume that flashing (red) brake will alert a driver to you braking sharply, although I see a lot of other car manufactures opting for the hazards as soon as the ABS cuts in. Who am I to argue!

It must be on the E9* model where they implemented the hazards coming on when you come to a standstill, as this earlier model only has the flashing brake lights:
