M6 cabriolet or coupe? which one should i order?

I am looking for some much needed advice. I am on the fence as to which M6 I should order, the cabriolet or the coupe. Last year I retrurned my 650i Coupe at the end of its lease and I have patiently been waiting for the new M6. I have followed every post about this car on bimmerpost from its inception. Last June my mother bought the first 650i Cabriolet in the GTA and it is an absolutely fantastic car! I must say, it is more of a grand tourer versus a sports car, (my old 650i was an absolute monster and pure sports car!). I have reserved the first M6 coming to Toronto, to my dealer at least, and I need to let them know within the next week as to which one i want, the 'vert or coupe. I am completely on the fence and I don't know which one to order. Any thoughts/arguments? Thanks in advance.

I vote M6 coupe. For these reasons

- coupe has the wicked looking and shaped carbon fiber roof
- coupe is more practical for places that get cold like Toronto
- coupe is significantly lighter than cabrio

Any idea what color? I'm jealous

I will be driving my 2009 X6 50i in the winter. This car will only be driven in the warmer months. I completely agree with how wicked the coupe looks! However, being able to put the top down on a great day is what is killing me! I think i am going to order something crazy like Sakhir on Sakhir with some custom rims. First item on the to-do list is the exhaust.

I'd be torn if I was in your position, I will have to go with the Coupe because it is lighter and the new CF roof is stunning... I just read the rest of the thread and I think we are all on the same page.

The roof is awesome! I think that is what is enticing me. I saw your post about the canadian ordering guide and the convertible does not come in Sakhir Orange. That is definitely a con in my eyes. Thanks for the input.

I was also hoping Sakhir Orange was available for the Cabriolet as well it would be so sharp with Oyster or Black interior... too bad.

One good thing about the Cab is that you will hear the engine note in all it's glory with it's top down.

The Coupe's roof is a winner!

Cab all the way - I got a call from the dealer today "want an April build slot for an M6?" Really thinking about it!

Lucky guy! There much chance to use a cabrio in Toronto? Guess it wouldn't be your daily driver anyway.

I just confirmed with my dealer today that Sakhir Orange will be available on the cabriolet on the 2013's which is a July build. As of right now, I am ordering a 2013 Cabriolet, Sakhir on Sakhir. I am really digging that roof on the coupe though. I have a few months to decide. We'll see.

My daily driver is my 2009 X6. The M6 will only be for the nice weather.

Already ordered? Awesome! My dealer seems to know nothing about allocation of ordering. Were you able to spec options too?

Spec-ed and ordered every option including the ceramic brakes. I didn't get any prices however. The only thing we couldn't figure out was the camera under the ///M in the front grill. Probably night vision. Wasn't in executive package or a stand alone option.

Gotta love dealerships... email from mine this morning:

"As of right now we do not have any allocation for coupes or convertibles. If you know someone that has ordered, he is probably expressing wishful thinking. They will probably bring the convertible out before the coupe."

Why do we have to educate them! Anyway, thanks for the info. Ill push him.

Sakhir on Sakhir. Full merino, B & O, Carbon Ceramic Brakes and Executive Package. Fully loaded. I'm still waiting for pricing but I think it will be around $140K.

the convertible will be first avail around April/ May for ordering, not ,many allocated though, which I'm not interested in, waiting for the coupe, which I was told will be around August. Its funny that the M6 is arriving here earlier than the M5.

Bold color combo. I love it!! If you're going to spend that much on a car as sexy as the M6 coupe might as well go bold
