Question about insurance - and new wheels
I'm curious...
If you get a new set of insane $5k HRE wheels...and they get stolen a month later - does your insurance company comp you for the value of those wheels? Or do they cut you out a check for the value of your OEM wheels? Also - what happens if you buy them used and don't have an actual receipt??? Then what happens? I'm just curious...I don't know much about insurance companies and how they work... I also wonder what happens when people buy insanely expensive wheels and have them stolen, curbed or bent? Thanks folks! |

Insurance does not cover aftermarket parts unless specifically written into the coverage.(meaning you may pay some extra premium to have them)
However in the case you have receipts and have your wheels stolen, they may cover you for replacement cost or just up to the amount of stock wheels. $5k does seem excessive for a set of wheels, so not something they would normally cover. Without receipts; well, you're asking for trouble and might again just have them covered up to the cost of replacing them. Btw take pics to prove you had them on your car. Hard to prove a claim for something you can't prove you bet had. |

If you can't get your wheels covered by an automobile policy, I'm pretty sure you'd be able to get some kind of insurance on it, similar to getting jewelry and other personal items insured.
