But Jeeze... only 2500 miles? It does sound to good to be true, but you never know... divorce? Busted in a drug deal and needs lawyer fees fast? If it wasn't infested by a family of skunks or some such, that could be that deal of the year.

Super low miles is a red flag: in the shop for along time due to major body damage, engine problems, etc.

WHen I had my Z3 I drove it about 3000 miles a year, that is all. So, 2500 on an 06 doesn't seem super low to me, especially on a car like this. So, the question is, why when blue book says it is worth high 40's would you sell it for 10K less? Must be something wrong with it.

the dealers can't sell new ones, so I'm sure the used ones aren't doing that well on resale either

think about it, if the dealer can't sell them, it's going to be hard to sell them ourselves too, that's why many of us got such smoking deals

get the car checked though, better safe than sorry

Low mileage doesn't equal bad car. It's just a red flag that you have to check out, that's all.

I'm a little reminded of an old joke: This guy got a new refrigerator, and figured he'd give his old one away. It was perfectly good, so he didn't want to just haul it to the dump. So he put it out on the sidewalk with a big sign that said "FREE REFRIGERATOR". It sat there and sat there, with no takers. Then he changed the sign to read "FOR SALE, $100".

Somebody stole it that night.

The thing that bothers me right off the bat is the: "It is as eye-catching on the street as it is quick around a track". comment. RED FLAG! I would never buy any car I knew had been on a track. That's why BMW are such puds when it comes to honoring warranty repairs on tracked BMW's.

I'm told when the track gets the VIN, they immediately report it to BMW. As long as no mods were done, you have a better chance at getting a warranted service. Just be very, VERY careful and do your research and homework. It may be the deal of the century, or the scam of your lifetime!

Great story! I remodeled my kitchen once and put a 5 foot cast iron sink out on the curb for trash pick up, you know the kind that is covered in that while porcelain finish and hangs on the wall. I didn't put any sign on it but at 2 AM my wife and I were suddenly awaken by a HUGE BAM, CRASH, SLAM sound of metal hitting metal. We looked out the window and someone was putting it into the back of their pick up truck. The thing weighed at least 200 lbs, maybe more. Anyway, I digress. Not sure the moral of the story, but it reminded me of this.

i wouldn't be surprised if the guy was actually from nigeria or romania but his "cosin" lives in arkansas and will collect your money while you wait for a fedex express delivery of your car...

This is true. I've seen plenty of 06's still on lots. Can you still lease a 2006 car if its new?

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to lease an 06 if it was new. They just want to move them off the lot any way possible!
