Where is the cheapest place to buy bosche ZGR6STE2?

Bmminipart seem to be out of stock..

Hi Phil

Looking to replace my plugs, where did you get yours from in the end? Are the Bosch ZGR6STE2 plugs genuine BMW plugs? I take it you fitted them ok with no misfires or rough idle?

Also I’m gonna fit em myself, had a quick look on ebay for the special socket but there were quite a few different one's on there. Any idea what i need to change the plugs and where to order? I’ve got small socket set but will probably need the long extension and special socket.

H, N54 needs a special 14mm thin-wall plug socket to get these plugs out. A normal 14mm socket will be too thick walled to fit between the plug and the head recess.

Loads on the bay for about 5 or 6 quid.

ZGR6STE2 is the one shown on realoem http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...17&hg=12&fg=05

Also, see that realoem page, the coil packs are now only $57 each!! thats some drop to what it was a year or so ago!

Got the plugs ordered!!

Tried again to find the tool i need on ebay but it doesn't say if it's specifically compatible with the n54. Any chance you can send me the link to the correct one?

I take it i just need that single tool, or do i need a special socket for the end of it to fit the spark plug itself?

I'm a complete spark plug rookie, clearly!!

Rare, just go to your dealer and wait two days?

The sockets are often containing a metal 'gripper' spring to enable you to withdraw the whole thing from the deep hole.
Do a dry run - you might find your extension bar pulls off before the socket detaches from the plug - deep shit.
I slackened off the plug clips a bit - best bet is to find a socket with a mega secure square drive ball/keeper.

Make sure you apply the correct torque and use a quality torque wrench, a loose (or overtight) plug can be catastrophic if it rips the threads out or cracks.
14Nm comes to mind - you may want to check that.

The 'dealer' tool has an inbuilt torque 'clicker' so you can work faster.
Do not use non conductive grease on threads either.

Mine is 14 mm also. I have ordered this from e-bay.

Try this one, read the spec, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LASER-TOOL...#ht_3163wt_745

This goes on the spark plug and unscrews it and lifts it out.

You'll need a 3/8" square drive ratchet and extension to turn it with.

As steve says watch the torque when doing them up, its only a tiny amount like 20nm or something.

got to recommend auto essentials guys are based in my hometown been using them for ages, they know their stuff and are very good. Give them a call mention a local guy recommended them as his on the forum you might get a discount

It sounds like it should be, and I have used it before.

Im just thinking of a sound ground connection.
Having seen many people completely lag threads in grease that can't be good.
In the absence it would be best to use nothing IMO and thats often what I have done.
The heat and pressure make a mess of most simple greases and can make extraction a PITA next time.

I have some Noalox here used for jointing aluminium power cables and lightning rods etc.
That is definately conductive and probably ideal

The plugs have steel threads, will the head thread be ally or a steel insert in the ally head?

Just as a heads up BMW have recently changed the part no on their spark plugs to Bosch 12120037244. Don't know what changes they have made but could be an outside change they have improved it in some way?

After reading about the importance of the torque setting of the plugs I’ve decided to leave it to D' Woods as I don't have a torque wrench n I’m booked in for oil anyway in a couple of weeks.

H, that is a BMW part number not the Bosch number, if you google it it links right back to the same old Bosch ZGR6STE2 reference.

I was thinking it would be better to let Woods do it, they charge so little it's worth the piece of mind, especially if its in for something else. Have a coffed and keep your hands clean!

Its an easy job in steady hands, but the consequences of a f##k up could be horrendous!

You don't adjust gaps on these two pronged plugs.

They are preset correctly, if you mess with them you'll probably break something.

Spark plug change seems to have gone smoothly. Meth install took ages! Hardware is all in place, just need to test and prime the pump then give map 3 a go... Run out of light so will wait till tomorrow.
