Short ram vs stock air box

vehicle: 07 328 e92

I'm looking into replacing the air filter, but now i'm thinking about just replacing the stock air box and installing a short ram intake like the one below:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/INJEN-SHORT-...ht_1928wt_1163

What are your thoughts?

Thanks

Not familiar with how these work with the N52 but I'd probably buy it from a vendor as opposed to ebay.

its just a cone filter on a stick. thats pretty much what all those intake "systems" are these days. makes a lot of noise, but most times reduces hp everywhere except probably increases 1hp at one specific dot on the dyno chart. lol

Don't they just suck in hot air?

Yeah thats mostly what i concerned with, sucking in hot air from the engine bay. The stock box uses the inlet from the kidney grills to suck in more colder air. Thanks for the response guys! i'll go with stock box and K&N filter.

thats what i read too so when i got the three i did a very careful inspection.
I got the scoops first with stock filter and no charcoal delete for a month and i didnt notice a huge difference with dirt in the filter with or without the scoop. then i swapped to the k&n filter and didnt cut out the charcoal filter cuz everyone said the oilfilter isnt very good at filtering the dirt. then after about a month i took it apart again and the charcoal filter looked clean (like with stock filter clean) so i cut it out and had it ever since.

Much better throttle response as most people have said there is no more lag from 1k - 3k rpms which imo is terrible when everything is stock.
