Here's some more information. Not my information,I borrowed it from the Youtube link. This is for the 135 and 335.

The popular "Golf Tee Mod". Basically, the stock left side muffler has a vacuum/boost controlled valve that remains shut during idle and part throttle to maintain lower noise levels and opens under throttle for sporty sound. The Golf Tee Mod simply plugs the vacuum line to the actuator just before the exhaust tip, allowing it to remain open at all times for a slightly louder sound at part throttle and idle. Free mod and worth the 3 minutes that it takes to do it.

From what I understand the 550 uses a different system to open the vavles, so I don't think this would work.

No, it won't. 3-series exhausts to default-open in the lack of suction, so shorting, disconnecting, or clamping that hose means it can never pull the valve shut, deadening the sound.

The F10 and maybe the E60 before it default-close, so the suction opens the valves on WOT. Disconnecting or pinching that tube means your valves will always be closed.

Unfortunately so. Only real solution is a less restrictive exhaust, whether it be an COTS product like AC Schnitzer or Meistershaft or a custom job like this guy.
