Delaware New York Speeding Ticket - What to expect?
My wife got a speeding ticket in Delaware County. 87 in a 65.
What is court like there? Here (Maryland) you can go to traffic court, plead guilty with explanation and if you have a good driving record for at least 3 years, get probation before judgement (still pay fine and court costs, but no points on your record). Is there anything equivalent there? If not, is it possible the judge will reduce the speed class from >20 mph over to <20 mph or something like that? Worth going to court? There is no fine amount on the ticket, what should we expect? Thanks in advance. Her court date is in a couple of weeks. |

Yes, state trooper.
I have read on another site, if you send the ticket in as not-guilty, most counties will do a pre-trial conference and reduce the charges. Since her ticket looks like a 6 pointer, if the charges were reduced at all she would miss the driver assessment fee of $300. Is Delaware county a place that will negotiate pre-trial? Thanks,. |
