DIY Request - dension ipod kit
Admin if im making a mess just delete this
Hey guys any chance some1 could do a diy for the dension ipod kit? i saw a thread somewhere before but think it was on Z4um and never got a chance to take down details... it was fitted in the boot and the wire for the ipod ran through the little box inbetween the seats, just under the navi reader underneath thanks in advance guys Cris |

I have just installed the dension kit in my Z4. Why dont you just put it in the glove box. Much Easier.
Yes I had to remove the trim in the boot/trunk trim to disable the cd changer, but cannot really see why you would want to put the ipod there |

DICE
DICE Installation.pdf
Here is the best DIY that I have seen. Good luck I like keeping the IPOD in the center console because I sometimes want to use the IPOD controls rather than the steering wheel. I also like it that the center console locks when you lock the car automatically. The glovebox is already too small without trying to put an IPOD in it.

Here is another critical picture. These are the two cables that you are looking for in the trunk. Once you find these cables, its pretty easy.

Whick kit are you using? The dension kit uses the interface of the head unit hence installation of the ipod in the glove box being the easiest solution. Where as the Dice unit uses the CD changer interface, making it easier to use the centre cosole to house the ipod. I thought about putting mine in the centre console but to run the cable from the dension would be a nightmare. |

ay8306 - you do NOT need the DSP kit to install the DICE interface in a 3.0si Z4. While the info on the various web sites for other models suggests you might this is not the case here. I have installed it in my Z 3.0si Coupe and it works fine. I did need the DSP kit for my wife's '05 X3 with premium sound but not in my Z4.

AlanL speaks the truth. You do not need the extra DSP kit for a 2006 3.0si with the premium sound (which is standard on the si).

I don't think you need it. This is from the EAS page for the base (non-DSP) Dice unit:
Models Supported: 2003-2007 Z4, including M-Roadster/Coupe If you want to be sure, send an email to Tom at EAS he will give you an immediate answer. If he helps you, buy the DICE from him. He is a great help on installation details and operating issues. web site www.europeanautosource.com tom@europeanautosource.com
